İstanbul'da doğdu. 1968 yılında Pertevniyal Lisesi ve 1974 yılında İ.Ü.Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesinden mezun oldu. Vatani görev (18 ay) ve SSK Bakırköy doğumevinde 1 yıllık nisaiye asistanlığını takiben İ.Ü.Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesinde Anatomi asistanı ve 1979 yılında Anatomi uzmanı oldu. Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum asistanlığı sırasında, 1983-1984 yıllarında Anatomide Yardımcı Doçent olarak Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde Anatomi dersleri verdi.
Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesinde Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum asistanlığını takiben 1985 yılında da Kadın hastalıkları ve Doğum uzmanı oldu. 1984-1985 yıllarında Baylor College of Medicine'da (Houston, Teksas, ABD) Reprodüktif Endokrinoloji ve Elektrofizyoloji konularında postdoctoral research fellow olarak çalıştı.
1987 yılında İ.Ü.Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Kadın hastalıkları ve Doğum anabilim dalına uzman olarak girdi ve 1988 yılında Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum doçenti, 1996 yılında da profesör oldu. 2001-2006 yılarında İ.Ü.Şişli Sağlık Yüksek okulu ebelik bölüm başkanlığı,2007-2010 yılları arasında da Reprodüktif endokrinoloji bilim dalı başkanlığı yaptı.
Jinekolojik Endokrinoloji Derneği kurucu üyeliğinin yanında halen aynı derneğin ve Anti-aging derneğininin başkanıdır. Evli ve 2 çocuk babasıdır.
